The palm tree or the Arecaceae is native to the regions near the equator and cannot survive much further north then South Carolina.  Palms can also be harvested for items like Brazilian wax and many other house holds goods.
This is the Japanese Cherry Blossom this is actually a tree that is commonly found in Macon and we have a festival dedicated to these trees every year. http://www.cherryblossom.com/
This is the weeping willow and is an ornamental tree. Must have abundant moisture to stay alive, does well in coastal towns and along rives, creeks, etc.

River Lab

This is where we did the river lab, and doing this lab was a great interactive way to see the environment and ways in which the government is trying to improve Macon. We calculated flow rates in both channels using an orange and a stop watch.

Mystery of the Mega Flood

This movie was about the creation of the Channeled Scablands which is very interesting because when they were discovered there were many different theories on the issue over how they were created. One being over time and slowly or the Eruption of a Glacial dam at Glacial Lake Missoula. However it was later found that this has happened multiple times there by forming the Scablands.
